ABOUT
LANCE JOHNSON

With over two decades of hands-on experience in and around the design and renovation industry, there is little that fazes me. The broken is fixable, the ugly can be transformed, and the out-of-date lifestyle choices of the past can be easily swept to one side. There is always a solution to a design problem; it might just sometimes be a little left field.

I've wielded jackhammers in the searing desert heat and donned wellies to trudge through the mud of an English terrace house makeover. Rain, hail or shine, the job at hand is king.

I am a great believer in your space reflecting you.  I prefer classic style over faddish fashion as it stands the test of time, and I particularly like blending old with new, bringing the stories of the past to the present.

Thanks to a globe-trotting partner, I have had the chance to hone my skills across a number of design influences through three continents. Now it's time to settle into the beauty that is the Southern Highlands and bring my international learnings to bear locally.

FAQS

What does a designer do?

A designer helps you focus on getting what's in your head, into your home. We can be as hands on as a client might need, but we can also simply provide a design concept and let the client do the rest. I have years of experience which can help when it comes to design challenges.

I have not used a designer before, how do you work?
I prefer to start things off with an initial on site consultation. At this time we discuss your scope of works, budget and get a general over view of the project. This is a great time to share with me any inspirational images you might have and thoughts you have about the finished project.

How much does a Designer cost?

Fee structures vary depending on what you want your designer to be involved with. Some jobs are cost plus a percentage, some are hourly charge and some might be a combination. Some are fixed fee. For example I charge $594 for an internal colour consultancy.  This involves about an hour on site with you, then about 2 hours back in the office making the choices that best suit you and pulling together a presentation, followed by another meeting with you to present the colour / mood board.

How long will my project take?
This depends on the scope of works and what lead times might be typical for the elements needed for completion.  I can tell you this for sure - â€‹nothing in real life comes close to the TV shows where major rebuilds all get done in a week. If there is a special event, like a wedding, that the project is being undertaken for, please flag this early on. What might also play a part in timing are any issues we discover lurking behind the scenes. We might need to add to the scope of works to correct a fault that we had not initially known about.

How much will my project cost?
This depends on the project and if hidden issues arise. Prices for certain components of the project might fluctuate depending on availability.
